gbarr@andrew.cmu.eduI grew up in Ithaca, New York, USA. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, graduating in May 2009. I am still at Carnegie Mellon, in a one year Master's program.
As the title of my blog suggests: I am an evangelical Christian who has given up her life to following Jesus Christ, I am a hippy who is passionate about sustainability, and I am an engineer dedicated to improving the lives of the people around me through the technology that I understand. Also, I am full of energy. I laugh a lot. My doctrine is conservative, but I am socially and politically liberal. I am passionate about social justice. I value the people around me. I like to be in charge of things, but I've gotten much better at learning how to listen and give up control as of late. I am equally at home in the stillness of nature, in the strictness of the dojang, and in the insanity of a construction project. My comfort zone includes some discomfort.
I have a dictionary which means I don't have to define words every time I use them, but which may help you, the reader, enter my world. The vast majority of my posts are public, so feel to start reading and start getting to know me.
